Mykola Chajkovskij

"... I know, I firmly believe, that only in scientific activity - and only in it - I will find its happiness. I am not poet and do not know that inspiration, which the poets describe, but I know the minutes of not complacency, not pride - all that comes then - and moments, when a reason quite envelops an idea before jumping away, like ball. Then I forget, that exist, I see in front of oneself an idea."

  Mykola Chajkovskij was born 2 january 1887 y. in Berezhany, a litle 'povitovomu' small town of East Galychyny (now Ternopil' domain), where his father long years was by advocate, attending to for hours together writer work. After outflow of gymnasia of Berezhany, drives to Praga, where teaches at German higher technical school, and afterwards in university. The Praga German university dissatisfied Chajkovskij expectations, and over year it walked across on philosophical faculty of Viennese university, in which taught a good lesson three years. A last M. Chajkovskij teaching year passed in Lviv university.

In Viene M. Chajkovski listens to lecture from mathematics, physics, astronomy, works in physical laboratory, much to time returns to public work. First work in mathematics "The set numeral systems in history of human culture", which broke the ice to fruitful learned labour in mathematics industry and her history, mathematics teaching methods, developments of ukrainian scientific terminology.

By Spring 1911 y. Chajkovskij successfully protected in Viennese university dissertation and won a philosophy doctor degree.
