 Was born Volodymyr Levytskyj
in Ternopil in last day 1872 y. in old priestly family.
From 1882 y. learns in Zolochiv's, then in Ternopil's
gymnasia. In summer 1889 y. Levyskies family cross
to Lviv, Volodymyr records to polish gymnasia by Josyph Franc, which finishes with decoration in 1890 y., and enters to Ëüâ³âñüêîãî
university. Then it writes first its original labour "Pro symetrycni vyrazhenja vartostej
funkcij mod m" ("About symmetric mod functions costs
expressions m"), which published in polish in collection "Prace matematyczno-fizyczne"
(in P. Ogonovkies translation went out in "Zapysky NTSH" (Notes of Scientific
T.G. Shevchenko name Society), v.4, 1894). This was first profesional article in history from mathematics, printed ukrainian.By result of of many years V. Levytskyj work
was a publication in volume 8 of material "Collection" (1902 y.) to mathematical terminology. They two-pieced (elementary and higher mathematics) and enveloped more
2000 terms.In 1901 y. studies mathematics in Gettingem (listens F.Kljajn and D.Gilbert lectures course), in Berlin (lectures
of G.Shvarc, Ye.Landau). By this time V.Levytskyj is by author over 30 scientific articles.After foreign probation period V.Levytskyj
goes back to Lviv, where at once is included into public life. Business from by creation of ukrainian university
in Lviv was delayed. To by some rank compensate a lack of higher sparring establishment, in the main by efforts
of prof. O. Kolessa in 1907 y. was created Society
of scientific teachers Petro Mogyla name . Among 13 society founders was and V.Levytskyj.In 1920/21 y. V.Levytskyj lays out at Ukrainian polytechnic school.
Reads higher mathematics and prelude to cosmography. In 1923 y. against all of goverment peolpes-ukrainians laying out in secret university, authority enjoined to
fall to disciplinary outcome. That's why already in september 1923 y. V.Levytskyj is forced to break off work in university. In this time it returns any amount of forces
to work in Scince T.G.Shevchenko name Society. V.Levytskyj was by "Collection" editor from first (1897 y.) and to last volume 32 (1939 y.). From 1924 y. a section burst out hand
a "Sitzungberichte" magazine, in which by foreign languages in print report about activity section and
short mathematical articles. Thanks to by this section edition, which sent in exchange, a NTSH-library received
over 100 honourable magazines from ïðèðîäíè÷èõ
sciences of the wide world.14 july 1956 y. V.Levytskyj does not stand. Due to
results of its V.Levytskyj labour for ever will remain in histories of ukrainian culture as founder of mathematical
culture of our people. |
