----A First mathematical chair in Lviv's polytechnic school was created in 1851 year. Led it famous by then prof. L.Zmurko. Chair Activity was directed on creation of sparring manuals and necessary textbooks, and scientific activity in this time was insignificant. Only into ì³æâîºííèé period (1918-1939 ðð) in Ëüâ³âñüê³é ïîë³òåõí³ö³ developed äîâîë³ strong mathematical school. On mathematics chair, which a Â.Ñòîæåê professor headed, worked such remarkable mathematicians, as Ñ.Áàíàõ, Â.ͳêë³áîðö, Ñ.Êà÷ìàðæ, Ê.Êóðàòîâ÷üêèé et al. Teaching of mathematical disciplines little differed from university. By chair Manager was appointed prof. Â.ͳêë³áîðö. Later a chair headed prof. T. Î.Çàðèöüêèé (1945-1946 ðð), äîö. Í.Â.Áëàãîâåùåíñüêèé (1946 y.), prof. Ñ.Î.Êîâàíüêî (1946-1947 yy.), äîö Ò.ß.Çàãîðñüêèé (1948-1963 ðð). ----1963 y., a chair was divided into two: chair of mathematical analysis, managed which Ò.ß.Çàãîðñüêèé, and chair of calculable mathematics, which Ì.Î. led ²ãíàòü'ºâ. ----1965 y., after next reorganization both chairs were joint into one chair of higher mathematics, by manager of which äîö stood. T. Î.²ãíàòü'ºâ (1965-1971 ðð). ----Into following years by chair of higher mathematics managed äîö. Ô.Ï.Ëóíèê (1971-1977 ðð), äîö. ².Ï.Ïóñòîìåëüíèêîâ (1977-1988 ðð). From 1988 y. a chair heads prof. Þ.Ê.Ðóäàâñüêèé. ----With institute development and expansion of amount of specialities on the basis of chair of higher mathematics was made the new chairs: theories of mathematical treatment of geodesic measuring (1968 y.), applied mathematics (1971 y.) but calculable mathematics and programming (1978 y.). ----In september 1993 y. on the basis of chair of higher mathematics, applied mathematics, calculable mathematicians and programming was created a faculty of applied mathematics (dean äîö.
